Somali Roots is a UK and Somalia registered non-profit founded by members of the Somali diaspora working alongside local partners and communities. Our initiatives support youth, farmers, women, students, and displaced communities to access training, recognised certification, and sustainable livelihoods.
Three Flagship Projects
Somali Roots delivers practical programmes that connect climate resilience, skills development, and economic opportunity across Somalia and Somaliland.

A Regional Delivery Partner for Climate, Skills & Opportunity
We deliver practical programmes that restore land, expand access to education, and create real pathways to employment.
By combining agroforestry, accredited English certification, and community-based initiatives, we enable farmers, youth, and job seekers to progress into training, scholarships, local jobs, and global remote work.

Somali Sustainable Agroforestry Programme (Somali SAP)
Restoring degraded land while creating sustainable income for rural communities.
Through training in agroforestry, crop production, fodder systems, and beekeeping, farmers build resilient livelihoods and improve food security.
The programme also explores carbon credit opportunities to ensure communities benefit from long-term environmental restoration.

Where We Work
We operate across Somalia and Somaliland, delivering locally led programmes with community partners and institutions.
Our work focuses on women and girls, youth, farmers, students, and displaced communities—equipping them with the skills and opportunities to access education, training, and sustainable livelihoods.
